Introduction
The Oxidation Editorial Group has prepared the Chapter “Natural aerial coal oxidation (weathering) and artificial aerial coal oxidation (laboratory oxidation) – A review” to be included in the New Edition of ICCP Handbook.
News
The Chapter of Coal Oxidation (text and plates 1-12) has been accepted for publication at the International Journal of Coal Geology (IJCG). We would like to thank Prof. Krystyna Kruszewska and an anonymous reviewer for constructive comments that helped to improve the overall quality of the manuscript.
We would also like to thank Brett Valentine, Brian Cardott, Paul Hackley, Walter Pickel, Nikki Wagner, Stavros Kalaitzidis, and Ivana Sýkorová for their comments, remarks, and suggestions to the content of the text and the plates.

Introduction
The aim of the Liptinite Editorial Group was to update the ICCP Classification of Liptinite Maceral Group.
The work was completed in September 2016, with the acceptance of the new liptinite classification by ICCP in Houston, and its subsequent publication.

Classification and Terminology of Zooclasts in old sediments
| January 29, 2013 | Filled under Com I |
|
Introduction
The Classification and Terminology of Zooclasts in old sediments WG is a continuation (from 2022) of the Reflectance & Terminology of Zooclasts in old sediments WG that was established in 2011 in Porto. The new aim of the WG is to :
- To examine the applicability of differentiating non-granular graptolite, granular graptolite and nodular graptolite.
- Refine zooclast nomenclature, if necessary
In 2022 it was agreed to modify the WG and to move the activities related to reflectance measurements to a New WG under Com II.
Currently and for 2023 the WG is drafting a nomenclature/classification of zooclasts to be tested in a Round Robin Analyses.

Introduction
Suberinite WG was established in 2009 in Gramado and the objectives of this WG are:
- To investigate the various forms of suberinite in coal;
- To establish if the present ICCP definition is adequate.

The 2015 Exercise follows. Please fill in the spread sheet and return by email to Peter Crosdale. Images are in the power point files. They are TIFF images to keep the image quality as high as possible. There are 5 images per field: (1) B&W; (2) B&W with area for identification circled; (3) fluorescence; (4) colour and; (5) B&W with some reflectance values. Apologies for the slight misalignment between the colour and B&W images.
Images are in Power Point. They are best viewed in “slide show” mode.

Petrographic Image Database

Introduction
The Petrographic Images Database Working Group was established in 2009 in Gramado, with the aim to establish and maintain a database of photomicrographs for supporting the ICCP Classification, Teaching and Training Organic Petrology.
- establishing the requirements and structure of the database;
- define specifications for the quality size and format of photomicrographs;
- incorporating the images of the maceral sheets and the images of the WGs;
- start to implement training material from Diskus system.
At the moment the structure of the database is under discussion. Soon the relative requirements for the photomicrographs will be available on the webpage.
